I figured this "best value for home computers" produce enough juice for my custom built computer. without having anything but the tower pluged into the UPS (no monitor, router, or printer) it would alarm and even shut off my computer when i would run a simple game (sims on normal setting). Check how much power your system requires, 340 watts is not that much and can run a small computer, but nothing fancy. After looking into it, my power supply on my tower is 1,000Watts...which is Huge but still. check before you buy

I don't have a lot of experience with UPS units as this is the first unit I have ever used, but this UPS is fantastic. I loose power ALL the time where I live. The screen never even jiggles or shows any sign that the computer had switched over to UPS save for the popup window to let you know it is now on backup power. Very dependable. The software is very useful too. It lets you know how long the unit will last on the current load in real-time and lets you set how long you want it to stay on full load before it starts to shut down each device. Great product!

Better than they used to be! : APC Back-UPS Pro, 420 Watts / 700 VA,Input 120V / Output 120V UPS System

The backup has a nicely lit display that isn't too obvious until you push a button or the power goes out. As I'm using it, it has 4 small items including a cable modem, wireless AP, cordless phone base and home server. It says that it will power it for about 40 mins. but I haven't had it run out yet. It should shutdown my home server automatically but it hasn't gotten that long of a power outage yet. 40 mins is quite awhile for a PC but the home server doesn't have a monitor, although it does have 4 HDD's and runs all the time. Because the UPS has a display for all the basics of power usage and time left on the battery it should be ideal for these devices. I would normally put a UPS hidden but I have it next to the printer so I and see the status.

The master-slave outlets are an interesting idea that I just won't use because all my devices are on all the time. I've been thinking about getting another one for my desktop when my other UPS needs replacement because I could shut down speakers, TV Tuner, monitor and camera accessories. I'm not sure how much power+$ it would really save me but I like the overall idea. It probably could pay for itself if power costs go up.

I wish I had this six months ago. Power has been out so many times this winter and it has only been down once since I got it during a wind storm. If I have issues with runtime or extended power outages I'll update the review. Currently, I just have no complaints.

These Puresine UPS are very expensive but they really work well. I have this on the alarm/security camera system and it's perfect for the job. Most people don't know, but the LED lighting that comes with the security cameras generally don't like the cheap UPS. You need to run a true sine wave UPS for them to function properly. Also the DVR is a just a Linux computer, so it too needs the best waveform as well. I can run the entire camera and alarm system for 3+ hours according to the software that comes with this unit on this UPS and that's 14 cameras and supplemental lighting. This is our 5th Cyperpower UPS and we are very happy with the product.
